A 50 per cent water cut has been imposed across Thane city until December 19, 2025, following damage to a major water pipeline during the Mahanagar Gas works at Kalyan Phata.
According to officials, a 1,000-mm-diameter water pipeline that carries water from the Pise Bandhara to the Temghar Water Treatment Plant—one of the key sources supplying water to Thane city—was damaged at four to five locations on December 11, 2025. Repair work on the affected pipeline is currently underway on a war footing.
