Traffic on Ghodbunder Road in Thane (West) was severely disrupted on Friday morning following a major multi-vehicle accident near Gaimukh Ghat on National Highway 48 (NH-48). At least 12 vehicles, including a heavy container truck, were involved in the collision, leaving four people injured.

According to officials from the Thane Municipal Corporation’s Disaster Management Cell, the accident occurred around 7 am near the Gaimukh Toll Naka. A Tata container truck carrying an estimated 35–40 tonnes of cement bags was descending the Gaimukh ghat towards Thane when it allegedly rammed into vehicles travelling in the opposite direction towards Borivali. The truck driver reportedly fled the scene after the crash.
