In the Nalasopara murder case of 32-year-old Vijay Chauhan, his wife, Chaman Chauhan, has confessed to the police that it was she who committed the crime. According to her statement, she strangled Vijay while he was asleep, following a heated argument. She said that Vijay had hit her with a mobile charger wire, which sparked her anger and led to the murder.
Chaman reportedly told the police that she got all the ideas of destroying evidence by watching crime shows, series, and movies on television. Investigations further revealed that Chaman’s lover, Monu Sharma, assisted her in disposing of the body by burying it under the floor tiles of their house. Earlier, Sharma had claimed he killed Vijay by strangling him in a fit of rage.
Police are still awaiting the post-mortem report to confirm the exact cause of Vijay’s death. On Wednesday, both Chaman and Sharma were produced before the Vasai court and have been remanded to police custody till August 3. The police are currently searching for the labourer who was hired to dig up the floor. Police believe Vijay was killed on July 2, based on mobile tower records showing his phone was switched off from that day.
