<p><strong>One-fifth of Mumbai roads are pedestrian-friendly</strong></p>
<p>Maharashtra may have framed an urban transport policy over five years ago to develop infrastructure aligned with walking, cycling, and public transportation, as well as to combat traffic congestion, but in Mumbai walking remains a nightmare. The recently launched Mumbai climate action plan&rsquo;s (MCAP) sustainable mobility outlook has highlighted that only 22 per cent of the city&rsquo;s roads are pedestrian-friendly.</p>

<p><strong>Mumbai: Cops register FIR against 9-year-old boy for accidentally crashing cycle into TV actor`s mother</strong></p>
<p>The Vanrai police in Goregaon have registered an FIR against a nine-year-old boy after he injured the mother of TV actor Simran Sachdeva while cycling. The Child Welfare Committee said the police have no right to book a child for an accident. While the actor said she approached the cops seeking action against the child&rsquo;s parents, the police, clearly on the backfoot, said they will consider closing the case.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, police have dissolved the FIR against the child. A departmental inquiry is being conducted against the officers, PSI Tanaji Patil who registered the FIR, and Inspector Rani Puri of Vanrai police station, and they have been asked to submit a written explanation.</p>

The men, absconding since the 1993 bombings, were living in the Middle East under a different identity and had come to India to renew their passports, said officers.</p>

While Suburban Guardian Minister Aaditya Thackeray said 78 per cent of the desilting work across the city and suburbs is complete, BJP claimed only 35 per cent of the drains are clean. A delegation of the BJP met the civic chief Iqbal Singh Chahal on May 19 and presented photos of nullahs that are still clogged.</p>
