Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, accusing it of neglecting public welfare in the face of a growing flood crisis. He alleged that the "corrupt and failed" regime is more focused on event management than public welfare, reported PTI.
Taking to the social media platform X, the former chief minister questioned the government's priorities, saying that if it can arrange "super VVIP" rallies, there should be no excuse for the lack of effective relief operations in flood-hit regions.
As per official figures released on Sunday, the flood situation in Uttar Pradesh has affected 402 villages spread across 37 tehsils, impacting over 84,000 people, reported PTI.
