Depression forms over Arabian Sea, low pressure forming in Bay of Bengal

As of 8.30 am IST on Friday, it was centred near latitude 14.0 degrees north and longitude 70.6 degrees east, about 380 km west-southwest of Panjim in Goa, 400 km northwest of Aminidivi in Lakshadweep, and 480 km west-northwest of Mangalore in Karnataka

A depression forming over the east-central and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea moved north-northeast at a speed of 25 kmph over the past three hours. As on Friday 8.30 am, it was centred near 14.0 degrees North latitude and 70.6 degrees East longitude, approximately 380 km west-southwest of Panjim in Goa, 400 km northwest of Aminidivi in Lakshadweep, and 480 km west-northwest of Mangalore in Karnataka. The system is expected to continue moving nearly north-northeast across the eastern Arabian Sea over the next 24 hours.

Low-pressure area over Southeast Bay of Bengal
A low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal moved slowly west-northwest in the past three hours and remained over the same region as of 8.30 am IST on Friday. It is likely to continue moving west-northwest, intensifying into a depression over the southeast and adjoining central Bay of Bengal by Saturday. The system may further strengthen into a deep depression by Sunday and is expected to develop into a cyclonic storm over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal by the morning of Monday (October 27).
