Delhi's Mungeshpur experienced a record-breaking high temperature of 52.3 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, marking the highest temperature ever recorded in the national capital.

Mungeshpur reported 48.3 degrees Celsius on May 26. Kuldeep Srivastava, Head of the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre, stated that the highest temperature of the season was recorded at the Mungeshpur automatic weather station, reported ANI.
According to the report, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for many northern states, including Delhi, on Wednesday and Thursday. The IMD predicts severe heatwaves across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Jammu.
On May 29 and 30, Himachal Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh are also anticipated to see isolated heatwave conditions.
Dr Atul Mathur, Executive Director of Interventional Cardiology at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute in Delhi, has cautioned of potential cardiovascular complications caused by the severe heat. He recommended people stay hydrated and seniors avoid stepping outside during high heat hours, the report added.
"Our country is facing aggressive temperatures. Due to this, even a normal person can have issues with the cardiovascular system. If you have not been drinking water, you will be dehydrated. For those who have pre-existing heart issues, their BP becomes high. The main concern is dehydration. So, everyone should regularly drink water to keep themselves hydrated. Senior citizens should avoid going out during extreme heat hours," Dr Atul Mathur told ANI on Wednesday.

Later in the day, the IMD predicts light rain or drizzle with winds of 20-30 km/h in various portions of Delhi and the NCR, as well as parts of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, the report added.
On May 28, Rajasthan's Churu reached a high of 50.5 degrees Celsius, 7.5 degrees above average.
