Five injured as speeding truck hits car carrying Amarnath Yatra pilgrims

The accident occurred at 6:13 AM in the Battal Ballian area when a speeding truck broke through a barricade and struck the car, which was ferrying eight pilgrims enroute to the Amarnath Yatra via the Pahalgam base camp, according to a security force officer, reported PTI.

The car was part of the 16th batch of over 7,900 pilgrims who had departed from Jammu for the twin base camps of Pahalgam and Baltal earlier in the day.

Of the eight pilgrims, five were injured, the officer said, adding that the CRPF shifted them to a hospital where their condition is reported to be stable. The remaining three sustained minor injuries and received first aid at the site, reported PTI.
