Leh protest: Inquiry on the violent protest to be concluded in four weeks

A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the September 24 Leh violence that killed four people and injured many during protests demanding Ladakh statehood. The probe, led by SDM Nubra Mukul Beniwal, will be completed within four weeks

Violent protests in Leh broke out last month, causing major concerns across the region. With many people losing their lives amid the protest along with massive infrastructural damage, the situation in the Ladakh region is now expected to be better. In view of making the conditions better, a magisterial inquiry has been ordered by administrative authorities into the September 24 violence in Leh that left four people dead and scores injured; it would be completed within four weeks, officials said.

According to the PTI, the inquiry was ordered by the Leh deputy commissioner, who appointed Sub Divisional Magistrate Nubra Mukul Beniwal as inquiry officer.
