Maharashtra crime: A 23-year-old man was killed and a woman and her daughter were seriously reportedly injured after a rashly-driven SUV hit their scooters in Nagpur district of Maharashtra, the police said on Saturday, reported the PTI.

According to the news agency, the accident took place in front of the Laxminarayan temple near Sakkardara Lake on Friday night, said an official.

The deceased was identified as Gaurav Raut (23), resident of Dattatraya Nagar area, as per the PTI.

Varsha Kharabe (48) and her daughter Divyanshi (22), both residents of Mhalgi Nagar, were injured and rushed to a private hospital, the PTI reported on Saturday.

Kharabe and her daughter were returning home after Diwali shopping with the elder woman riding pillion when the SUV coming from the opposite direction hit them around 10.30 pm, the police official said, according to the PTI.

The SUV then hit Raut, who was riding his scooter behind the mother-daughter duo, killing him on the spot.

The SUV then ran into an electric pole and overturned. Its driver fled from the spot, the police official said.

Sakkardara Police registered a case under IPC section 304(A) (causing death by doing any rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide) and further probe is on, he added.

Meanwhile, in an another incident in Gurugram, three friends were charred to death in a car and a pickup van driver died of injuries after a speeding oil tanker coming from the opposite direction collided with the vehicles on the Delhi-Jaipur highway here, police said on Saturday, the PTI reported.

The accident occurred around 11.50 pm on Friday near Sidhrawali village, they said.

The oil tanker was coming from the Jaipur side when it smashed through the divider, went to the other side of the highway and collided with the Datsun Go car and the pickup van, police said.

The car was headed for Bhiwadi and it caught fire after the crash due to the CNG cylinders in it, they said. The three deceased occupants of the car were identified as Jitender of Panipat's Samalkha, Lokesh Saini of Jind's Anaj Mandi and Pawan Dubey of Bihar.

ASI Vinod Kumar said the three worked for a private company in Manesar and were going from Gurugram to Bhiwadi in Rajasthan to give a gift to a vendor, according to the PTI.
