The rain deficit in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/mumbai-crime-branch-cops-foil-knife-attack-during-robbery-in-andheri-one-held-23302719" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Maharashtra</a>'s Parbhani district has reached 36.4 per cent, an official report said on Wednesday, reported the PTI.
The district is a part of the state's Marathwada region which also comprises Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed, Hingoli, Osmanabad, Latur, and Nanded.
Other than <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/maharashtra-rains-nearly-1000-people-evacuated-as-heavy-rains-create-flood-like-situation-in-12-villages-of-nanded-23299190" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Nanded</a>, no district in the region has received adequate rainfall, it said, as per the PTI.
Since June 1, Parbhani district has received 63.6 per cent of rainfall. The expected rainfall here is 430.6 mm, but the district has received 273.9 mm of rainfall, said a report from the Divisional Commissioner's office.
In Jalna, 254.1 mm of rainfall (73.4 per cent) has been recorded against the rainfall of 346.1 mm. This points to a deficit of 23.6 per cent.
The deficits in rainfall in other districts of Marathwada are Aurangabad (23.2 per cent), Beed (18.4 per cent), Latur (16.5 per cent), Osmanabad (12.2 per cent), and Hingoli (8.2 per cent), the report says, according to the PTI.
Nanded is the only outlier in the region. Since June 1, it has recorded 580.6 mm of rainfall against the expected rainfall of 471.5 mm, registering a surplus of 23.1 per cent, said the report.
Meanwhile, in July, a report by the divisional commissioner had stated that six of the eight districts in Marathwada region are still witnessing a deficit in rainfall, according to the PTI.
The deficit in rainfall is a bit less in Osmanabad, Latur and Beed.
According to the officials, Beed has got 239.2 mm of rain so far, though the expected rainfall for the district till July end is 256.1 mm, which is about 93 per cent.
At 312.7 mm of rainfall against the expected figure of 322.3 mm, Latur has received 97 per cent of rain till July end.
"Osmanabad has so far received 99 per cent of the expected rainfall. The district has recorded 261.3 mm against the expected rainfall of 264 mm," stated the report.
According to the report, Nanded and Hingoli have received more rain than expected. "Nanded has reported 565.5 mm of rainfall against the expected 399.7 mm, which comes to 141 per cent," the report stated.
"At 418.9 mm against the expected mark of 399.4 mm, Hingoli has got 104.8 per cent rainfall," the report said.
