Village panels to be trained for issuing Kunbi caste certificates in Maharashtra

Village-level committees formed under a recent Maharashtra government resolution (GR) to process applications for Kunbi caste certificates will soon undergo training, an official confirmed on Wednesday.

The Social Justice and Special Assistance Department, in a resolution dated September 2, announced the formation of these committees to verify and issue Kunbi certificates to members of the Maratha community who can provide historical evidence of Kunbi lineage, a key demand of quota activist Manoj Jarange, according to the news agency PTI.
