Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that India has surpassed Japan to become the world’s third-largest automobile market. At the International Value Summit 2025, he unveiled plans to make India the top auto hub with focus on EVs, hydrogen fuel, green mobility, and exports, alongside rapid infrastructure upgrades and innovative fuel trials.

The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, while praising India’s growth story, highlighted that India has now surpassed Japan to become the third-largest automobile market globally. He further highlighted that the government is targeting the No. 1 position within the next five years, as reported by news agency IANS.
Unveiling an ambitious roadmap to position India as the world’s leading hub for automobile manufacturing, green mobility, and infrastructure innovation at the ‘International Value Summit 2025’ here, the minister said all major global automobile brands are now present in India.
