With both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha adjourned for the day in the face of opposition protests, the Congress on Tuesday said the adjournments were due to the Modi government refusing a discussion on the “votebandi being orchestrated in Bihar and other states” by the Election Commission (EC).
Opposition MPs, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, on Tuesday held a protest in the Parliament House complex. They gathered on the steps of Makar Dwar of Parliament and raised slogans against SIR exercise, alleging it amounts to stealing elections.
They also held placards — ‘SIR: Stealing Indian Rights’ and ‘SIR: Subverting Indian Republic’.
