During the early hours of India’s 79th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the tricolour at Red Fort. On August 15, India marks its 79th Independence Day while remembering the contributions of all the freedom fighters who made it possible.

As reported by news agency ANI, Prime Minister Modi was assisted by Officer Rashika Sharma while hoisting the flag. After the flag hoisting, flower petals were showered from two Mi-17 helicopters of the Indian Air Force – one carrying the national flag and the other the `Operation Sindoor` flag. The aircraft was, however, piloted by Wing Commander Vinay Poonia and Wing Commander Aditya Jaiswal.

Before the flag-hoisting ceremony at Red Fort, PM Modi was received by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, MoS Sanjay Seth, and the Chiefs of the three services.
