Illegal arms case: Gangs sourced weapons from MP village, says Pune Police

In a large-scale operation carried out jointly with the Madhya Pradesh Police, authorities raided Umarti village in Barwani district, about 500 kilometres from Pune. They detained 36 people and seized a substantial cache of weapons

The Pune Police in Maharashtra on Sunday said that criminal gangs in the city had been sourcing weapons from Umarti village in Madhya Pradesh, where officers recently busted a major inter-state illegal arms manufacturing and trafficking racket, reported the PTI.

In a large-scale operation carried out jointly with the Madhya Pradesh Police, authorities raided Umarti village in Barwani district, about 500 kilometres from Pune. They detained 36 people and seized a substantial cache of weapons. Police also destroyed 50 furnaces used for the illegal manufacture of firearms.
