A human skeleton was discovered in south Kolkata's Kasba area during the renovation of an old building on Thursday, reported PTI citing the police.

The identity or the sex of the skeleton is yet to be established, reported PTI.
"The skeleton was found by the construction workers inside a room at the old building in the Kamala Park area of Kasba. Nobody was living in that building," a police officer said.
Police spoke to locals and owner of the building in connection with it, he said.
The skeleton has been sent for examination to ascertain its identity and further investigation is underway.
Eight-year-old girl found dead in Tirupati, murder suspected
The body of an eight-year-old girl was found in the Nelaballi forest area under Doravarisatram Mandal of Tirupati District, said police on Wednesday.
The deceased girl was identified as Anika (8), the daughter of Laluk from Patna, Bihar, who works at a nearby rice mill.
Local residents were informed by a goat herder in the forest area about the body. Later, police reached the scene and examined the body. The girl's body has been sent to Naidupeta Hospital for an autopsy, said police further.
A case has been registered, and an investigation is on.
Tirupati District SP Subbarayudu stated that a team of 40 members has been working at Dhanya Lakshmi Rice Mill in Doravarisathram village for the last two months.
It is suspected that a co-worker took the child by offering her biscuits, and she was assaulted, killed, and left 500 metres from the rice mill.
Nearby residents identified the girl and reported it to the police. We have started the investigation, and the body was sent for a post-mortem. Soon, we will reveal the details, said the police official.
Delhi: Proclaimed offender wanted in murder as well as armed robbery arrested from Rohini
In a joint operation, the Delhi Crime Branch and Telangana Crime Branch arrested a proclaimed offender involved in a murder as well as a robbery case from Rohini on Wednesday, Additional CP Crime said.
Additional CP Crime Sanjay Bhatia said, "In a joint operation, the Delhi Crime Branch and Telangana Crime Branch have arrested proclaimed offender Sumit Dagar. He had been absconding for the last 2 years. Sumit Dagar had carried out an armed robbery in Telangana in a jewellery shop in December 2022. He had looted 4 kg of gold."
Sanjay Bhatia further said that Sumit Dagar was wanted and was absconding in the jewellery shop robbery case.
He further said, "He had been hiding in different parts of Delhi. He was arrested with a joint effort between Telangana and Delhi Police. There are also older cases registered against him. He was also been arrested in Delhi's Bindapur murder case. During COVID, he got payroll. Along with his friends, in December 2022, he planned the robbery in Telangana. He had been hiding in Rohini. He belongs from Bindapur and involved in criminal activities."
He further said that he was a proclaimed offender and nothing had been seized from him.
