Despite the serious allegations, there has been no immediate response from the office of the Lieutenant Governor, raising questions about the administration`s stance on environmental issues.

Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed that the LG personally visited the site and ordered the removal of trees that were obstructing the road. He presented an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court as evidence.

Bharadwaj referred to an email from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) that reportedly confirms the LG`s order to fell the trees. He stated that this evidence exposes the LG and the BJP’s actions to the people of Delhi.

Bharadwaj insisted that the LG should immediately resign due to the environmental damage caused under his orders. He also challenged the LG to a public debate on the matter.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh called for a thorough investigation into the tree felling incident, urging that all facts be presented before the Supreme Court to ensure accountability, including potential actions against the LG.

Singh accused the LG of favouring wealthy individuals with farmhouses in the area, rather than protecting the environment and the interests of the people of Delhi.

The felling of 1,100 trees in Delhi’s Ridge area, a significant green belt, has sparked widespread concern about the environmental impact, particularly in a city already grappling with pollution and ecological degradation.
