Heavy rain triggered a flash flood in Dharam Kund village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district early Sunday. Over 100 people were rescued by police personnel who responded swiftly despite continuous downpour and cloudbursts. (PICS/PTI)

Around 40 houses were damaged due to the flood caused by an overflowing stream. Several vehicles were swept away in the sudden surge of water.

<div>The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was shut from both directions after landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones struck nearly a dozen spots between Nashri and Banihal. The traffic department advised commuters not to travel along the highway until weather conditions improve and clearance operations are completed.</div>

<p>A JCB machine was deployed to clear debris and restore access near the Civil Secretariat. The IMD had forecasted severe weather from April 18 to 20 due to an active western disturbance, prompting authorities to take preventive measures.</p>
