Hamas chief death: Mossad hired IRGC agents in May to plant explosives

Updated On: 04 August, 2024 11:00 AM IST

The day after Hamas chief's death The Telegraph reported that Israeli Mossad agents, working with Iranian Revolutionary Guards, planted explosives in the guesthouse where Haniyeh was staying. The plan to kill him during a funeral was canceled due to the large crowd, so the agents planted explosives in three rooms instead. If true, this would be a significant security breach for Iran. However, the Israeli Defense Forces deny involvement in attacks around that time, except for a separate killing in Beirut. Earlier, The New York Times reported that Haniyeh was killed by a remote-controlled bomb that was smuggled in two months prior. Iran has arrested over two dozen people, including high-ranking officials, in connection with his death.
