Aerial views revealed the chaotic scene where eight bogies lay scattered between Motiganj and Jhilahi railway stations under the North Eastern Railway's jurisdiction.  In a tragic incident, multiple coaches of 15904 Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express went off the tracks leading to a major rail mishap on July 18. The accident occurred near Jhilahi Railway Station close to Gonda district of UP.
