Days after Russian Prez Vladimir Putin on Dec 27, invited his “Dear Friend” Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Russia, PM Modi on January 15 dialed Putin for a “useful exchange of views on various regional and global issues.” Talking to ‘X’, PM Modi shared about the Modi-Putin conversation. PM Modi and Prez Putin agreed to develop a roadmap to strengthen India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership. PM Modi also conveyed his best wishes for Russia’s Presidency of BRICS in 2024 and assured of India’s full support. Further, the two leaders agreed to remain in touch. Notably, EAM Dr S Jaishankar visited Russia from Dec 25-29 as part of ongoing high-level exchanges between the two sides. On December 27, President Putin invited PM Modi to visit Russia addressing him as a “dear friend”.
