The Thane civic body recently issued a Diwali 2025 safety advisory, urging citizens to celebrate the festival responsibly. A statement issued by the Thane Municipal Corporation said as air quality in Thane falls under the “moderate” category, only green (eco-friendly) firecrackers are permitted within the city, in line with the orders of the National Green Tribunal.
Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao appealed to citizens to celebrate a pollution-free Diwali by following the guidelines. While this is about the Thane civic body, this advice stands in good stead across the city. In a move to raise awareness, informative banners have been displayed across Thane city by the municipal corporation.
