I grew up in Spence Lane, off the main Byculla road, opposite Olivant Bridge. It was full of happy-go-lucky Anglo Indians who sang, danced and generally lived for the day. We were one big family—no fence in Spence, if you know what I mean.”
So said the affable Captain Reza Beg to me. “I’ll show you my lovely gully,” he offered. Then he passed on. And I continued exploring other paths.
