Each BHISHM Cube is designed to deliver essential medical care quickly. It includes a range of medicines and equipment necessary for treating various types of injuries.
These cubes are equipped to handle about 200 emergency cases, including trauma, bleeding, burns, and fractures. They also support basic surgical procedures and can generate limited power and oxygen.
The BHISHM Cubes are comprised of modular units, with each mother cube containing either medical supplies or surgical equipment. These cubes can be transported easily due to their compact and versatile design, allowing for multi-mode transport by air, sea, land, and even drones. The system is organised for efficient use and rapid deployment.
As part of the initiative, a team of Indian experts has been deployed to Ukraine to provide training on operating the BHISHM Cubes. This support ensures that Ukrainian personnel can effectively use the equipment and handle emergency medical situations.
The BHISHM Cubes contain detailed inventories of medical supplies and equipment organised according to the types of injuries they address. They are designed to be user-friendly, with RFID technology for tracking supplies and a digital app to provide operational guidance. The cubes can support initial triage, medical care, and basic surgical procedures.
The presentation of the BHISHM Cubes reflects India's ongoing commitment to humanitarian assistance. This gesture is part of a broader effort under Project Aarogya Maitri, aimed at providing emergency medical aid in a structured and efficient manner during crises.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Modi for the humanitarian aid.
The assistance is expected to significantly enhance the capacity of Ukrainian medical facilities to respond to emergencies and provide critical care.
