Former chairman of the national selection committee, Sandeep Patil reckoned that the T20 World Cup team ought to have included Shubman Gill instead of left-spinner Axar Patel.

“Too many spinners,” Patil exclaimed about the inclusion of four tweakers—Jadeja, Kuldeep, Chahal and Axar. “I would have had Axar in the reserves and Gill in the actual squad. There will not be a good batsman in the reserves in this current scenario now,” said Patil, whose committee picked teams for the 2014 and 2016 T20 World Cups.
