Opener Umar Khute’s sparkling century helped Anjuman-I-Islam English Medium School (Fort) post 338 all out in 66.5 overs in their first innings against Al-Barkaat Malik Muhammad English School (Kurla) in the Dreams Sports Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) inter-school Harris Shield cricket Super 8 match at Police Gymkhana, Marine Lines, on Monday.

In the two-day match, with each side allotted 80 overs, Anjuman-I-Islam won the toss and opted to bat. Umar produced a marathon effort, scoring a brilliant 160 off 190 balls, studded with 20 fours and four sixes during his 259-minute stay at the crease. The 13-year-old held the innings together maturely, rotating strike effortlessly and taking on both pace and spin with equal assurance. Wickets continued to tumble around Khute as the other batters found it hard to convert their starts. Ramprasad Vishwakarma chipped in with 26, including four boundaries, during a crucial middle-order stand with Khute. Later, Lamanprasad Vishwakarma struck a brisk 28, cracking six fours.
