1986 (India win by 5 wickets)

India registered their first-ever victory at Lord’s Cricket Ground in 54 years after having played their maiden Test at the iconic venue against England in 1932. England, cruising at 245-4, were bundled out for 294 in the first innings, thanks to 5-64 by pacer Chetan Sharma. India, in reply, scored 341 after Dilip Vengsarkar (126 not out) struck his third consecutive hundred at Lord’s. England were dismissed for 180 in the second innings. The visitors chased the 134-run target with ease, winning by five wickets to take the opening Test.

2014 (India won by 95 runs)

India’s second win at the iconic venue came 28 years later when MS Dhoni & Co beat Alastair Cook’s men by 95 runs to win the second Test and take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. Batting first, India were bundled out for 295 despite a patient 103 by Ajinkya Rahane. Pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 6-82 helped restrict England to a slender 24-run first-innings lead. Chasing a 319-run target, England looked well on track for victory at 173-4, but right-arm pacer and Player of the Match Ishant Sharma’s career-best 7-74 ensured the hosts lost their last six wickets for just 50 runs on Day Five.
