Then, it was the turn of Justin Greaves to leave one final imprint on a series where he has caught the eye with the bat against spin

India needed exactly an hour on the final day to apply the finishing touches to the second Test, surging to a seven-wicket victory at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
The result was never in any doubt going into Tuesday’s last day of the two-match series against West Indies. Needing just 58 more runs after having lopped 63 off the target of 121 on the fourth evening for the loss of Yashasvi Jaiswal, India had to play extraordinarily poorly not to register their fourth victory of the new World Test Championship cycle. That wasn’t going to happen, not with KL Rahul cutting out all risks for the first half hour in the company of the slightly more enterprising Sai Sudharsan. Roston Chase stuck with spin, expectedly; to their credit, the three spinners on view, including the captain, didn’t offer easy runs up top but India were in no hurry, aware that it was only a matter of time before the tape was breasted.
