<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Despite not having lifted the coveted trophy, Kohli has stood firmly by the Red and Gold, turning down multiple chances to switch allegiances over the years.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In a candid conversation on the latest episode of the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/amp/sports/cricket/article/ipl-2025-kohli-relieved-as-rcb-break-home-jinx-23527496" target="_blank" rel="none noopener"><strong>RCB</strong></a> Podcast, the 36-year-old delved into the reasons behind his long-standing association with the franchise and the thought process that led to his unexpected decision to relinquish captaincy in 2021.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Kohli disclosed that during the peak of his playing career, from 2016 to 2019, he received several offers to join other IPL teams. However, he remained with RCB out of a deep sense of connection and respect for the franchise and its supporters.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">"I've mentioned this before, I had the opportunity to explore, to look elsewhere, especially in the very prime peak years of my career from 16 to 19. I had constant suggestions and what not to switch and this, that and the other," Kohli shared.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">With 8,933 runs in 278 matches, including eight centuries and 64 half-centuries, Kohli is RCB&rsquo;s all-time leading run-scorer, boasting an average of 39.52. Yet, his journey has not been without challenges. He opened up about the mounting pressure of captaining both India and RCB simultaneously.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">"I was always in this space, what do I do? I was exposed to it 24/7. It did get very tough on me, and it did get too much in the end. That is why I stepped down because I felt like, if I have decided I want to be in this place, I need to be happy..."</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">While he briefly considered switching teams, Kohli ultimately chose loyalty over change. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">"And I am just going to see it through now. Whether we win or do not win, it is fine. This is my moment... I do not think any silverware or any trophy can come close to that..."</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In <strong><a href="https://www.mid-day.com/ipl-news/" rel="none">IPL 2025</a></strong>, Kohli is leading the run charts with 505 runs in 11 matches, averaging 63.12 and striking at 143.46.
