Middle-order batsman Shriram Pal played a responsible knock of 64 in 170 balls to help General Education Academy (Chembur) take the crucial first innings lead for a win over defending champions Swami Vivekanand International School (Kandivli) on the second day of their two-day Group A quarter-final playoff league match of the MSSA inter-schools Harris Shield boys’ under-16 cricket tournament at the PJ Hindu Gymkhana on Friday.

Resuming their first innings at the overnight total of 94 for 5 wickets, General Education scored a further 86 runs to grab a 49-run first innings lead, which earned them two points. In response to Swami Vivekanand’s total of 131 all out, General Education were bowled out for 180 in 75 overs. Shriram thwarted Advait Raut, who claimed 5-36, from running through. Shriram received good support from opener Hrugved More who had contributed 45 runs on the first day and Harsh Nadkar who made 21 runs.
