After a rare failure with the bat on Friday, Triumph Knights captain and icon player Suryakumar Yadav would have been eagerly looking forward to thrive in what seemed to be perfect batting conditions at the DY Patil Stadium on Saturday morning.

However, his bowlers erred as Bandra Blasters posted a competitive 192-7, thanks to a quickfire 69 off 37 balls by opener Suved Parkar. The Knights’s chase began on an inauspicious note with Siddhanth Addhatrao, who scored two fifties in the last three days, falling in the first over to left-arm medium-pacer Royston Dias for four. To add to their woes, rain thereafter dampened their hopes of making the semi-finals.

Play was stopped due to rain three overs into the Knights’s chase at 20-1 and did not allow resumption. The No Result (NR) meant Knights’s chances of making the last four dimmed further, with just one win in four games. The Blasters, with no high-profile names in their ranks and led by wicketkeeper-batsman Akash Anand, moved closer to a semi-final berth with five points from two wins and a NR, with one game to play on Sunday, which is the last day of the league phase.
