One of India`s most consistent opening batsmen, Yashasvi Jaiswal, however, missed the cut in the national squad for the continental tournament. On his omission, the chief selector said, "It`s unfortunate Jaiswal has had to miss out, but he will have to wait"

The most controversial omission from India`s Asia Cup squad was Shreyas Iyer. Addressing his exclusion, chief selector Agarkar said the management had some serious options for the T20 squad. "We have got some serious options in T20 squad...sometimes not the easiest squad to pick but good headache to have," said the 47-year-old

Earlier, there were doubts over Bumrah`s availability for the Asia Cup, but the selectors have confirmed his inclusion. The tournament will mark the pacer`s first T20 tournament since last year`s World Cup. Speaking on his return, former India pacer Agarkar said, "There`s no written plan at the moment. We have had a nice break from the England series. We are trying to look after him. Most fast bowlers are monitored and it won`t change. How we require him (for future tournaments) is also important"

Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav, too, has been drafted in, while Jitesh Sharma will be the back-up wicketkeeper batter for the tournament
