The fracas began with Real Madrid’s Marcelo unleashing a crunching tackle on Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas in front of the dugout. Both sets of benches ran onto the field and a brawl ensued. Amidst this, Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho managed to steal the headlines for poking Barcelona’s assistant coach Tito Vilanova in the eye. The Portuguese manager was unsurprisingly sent off.

Further aggrieved after an already embarrassing game, Ramos then slapped Barcelona skipper Carles Puyol, who had come to confront him after the tackle that left Messi writhing in pain. It led to both sets of players going after each other.
