A commanding brace from midfielder Reenesh Kotian powered Don Bosco High School (Borivli) to a comfortable 4-0 win over Gokuldham High School (Goregaon) in a boys U-16 Division I match of the Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) inter-school football at the Wings Sports Centre, Bandra.
The Borivli outfit opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Cristiano Lewis rose highest to meet Aarav Kataria’s perfectly curled corner, to head the ball home. Three minutes later, Reenesh doubled the lead with a composed finish into the bottom right corner, after neatly working his way past the Gokuldham defence. Saumil Wadgaonkar (22nd min) made it 3-0 just before half-time after which Reenesh (40th min) netted his second off a stunning free-kick that curled beyond goalkeeper Aadi Kelkar and into the top-left corner.
Don Bosco and St Paul’s High School (Dadar), who are both on three points each in Group D, will battle it out on Wednesday for a place in the quarter-finals. Cathedral and John Connon have already qualified after topping the group.
