UK schoolkids to learn about Marcus Rashford’s charity work

Rashford received an MBE having helped raise 20million pounds for food charities, allowing them to help feed kids following his reliance on free meals during his own upbringing

Schoolkids in the United Kingdom will soon be studying about how England football star Marcus Rashford has utilised social media for his charity work. 

The Manchester United player educated people on issues including kids’ school meals and racism. According to The Sun, Rashford ensured that kids from disadvantaged backgrounds, who rely on school dinner, receive their meals during COVID-19 crisis and successfully forced a government U-turn on the matter. 

In  March, PM Boris Johnson had announced that he would be closing tens of thousands of schools. Rashford received an MBE having helped raise 20million pounds for food charities, allowing them to help feed kids following his reliance on free meals during his own upbringing. 

Sandra Allan, head of curriculum for creative arts at exam board AQA, a registered charity and independent of the government, said: “Marcus Rashford is one of the most influential and inspirational young people in the UK, so students can learn a huge amount from how he uses social media to make a real impact. It’s not just an opportunity for them to learn about social media—it’s also a great way to learn about important social and race issues as part of our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in the curriculum.”
