India`s top-ranked men`s player Sumit Nagal advanced to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open Asia-Pacific Wildcard Play-off after shaking off a slow start to beat China`s Minghui Zhang 2-6, 6-0, 6-2 here on Tuesday.

The winner of the event will feature in the main draw of the Australian Open in January next year.
