Siya Singh, Pranay Shettigar, Naishaa Bhatoye and Pranit Somani emerge inter-school badminton champions

Siya Singh, 15, of Fatima High School (Vidyavihar) and Pranay Shettigar, 15, of Oxford Public School (Kandivli) won the girls’ and boys’ U-16 singles titles respectively in the MSSA inter-school badminton tournament, organised by the Greater Mumbai Badminton Association at the Bombay Gymkhana courts on Friday.


In the girls final, Siya beat Nirmitee Gajbhiye of Ryan International School (Goregaon) 21-14, 21-14, while Pranay defeated Soham Samir of Parle Tilak Vidyalaya English (Vile Parle) 21-11, 21-15. Both, Siya and Pranay, who will soon be appearing for their SSC Board exams were happy to finish school on a high.  


Meanwhile, Naishaa Bhatoye of St Gregorios (Chembur) and Pranit Somani of Billabong High (Malad) claimed the girls’ and boys’ U-14 gold medals respectively.


A confident, Naishaa prevailed over Riya Vinherkar of Bombay Scottish (Mahim) 21-6, 21-13, while Pranit got the better of Arjun Reddy Aluguvelli of Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir (Mulund) 21-10, 16-21, 21-12.
