India&rsquo;s top men&rsquo;s doubles pair of <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/other-sports/article/satwik-chirag-smash-past-semis-curse-enter-hong-kong-open-final-23593910" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Satwiksairaj Rankireddy</a> and Chirag Shetty signed off from the Hong Kong Open as runners-up after going down to China&rsquo;s Olympic silver-medallists Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang in the final of the Super 500 badminton event here on Sunday.
The World No. 9 Indian duo, who bagged a World Championships bronze medal last month, suffered a 21-19, 14-21, 17-21 loss to the sixth-ranked Chinese duo. Shetty admitted they struggled to counter their opponent&rsquo;s aggression in the last two games.&nbsp;

&ldquo;The shuttles they hit were fast. They put us under a lot of pressure in the first four or five strokes. In the first game we countered it quite well, kept it low, but we weren&rsquo;t able to do that in the second and third game,&rdquo; said Shetty.
&ldquo;It was a good week, especially after the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/other-sports/article/world-athletics-championships-sarvesh-kushare-first-indian-to-qualify-for-high-jump-final-23594058" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">World Championships</a>, to be playing a final. We wanted to all the way and win, but credit to them, they played really well. There&rsquo;s always a next time and overall we&rsquo;re happy with the performance,&rdquo; said Shetty. It was the Indian duo&rsquo;s first final appearance in 16 months since winning the Thailand Open in May last year.
