Lakshya Sen produced a composed performance to beat Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto 21-19, 21-11 and progress to the quarter-finals of the India Open here on Thursday.

However, the men’s duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lost 27-25, 21-23, 19-21 to Japan’s Hiroki Midorikawa and Kyohei Yamashita. Kidambi Srikanth and H S Prannoy also exited, losing to France’s Christo Popov, and Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew respectively. In the women’s event, Malvika Bansod lost 18-21, 15-21 to China’s Han Yue, while the duo of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand lost 22-20, 22-24, 21-23 to China’s Li Yijing and Luo Xumin.
