India’s Minakshi Hooda on Sunday clinched the gold medal at the World Boxing Championships 2025 in the women’s 48kg category. Competing against a seasoned opponent in Kazakhstan’s Nazym Kyzaibay, a multiple-time World Champion and Paris Olympics bronze medallist, the 22-year-old Indian pugilist showed nerves of steel to emerge victorious.

Minakshi secured the gold after a thrilling final bout that ended in a 4-1 split decision in her favour. The encounter, staged at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, was as intense as anticipated.
