World champion D Gukesh suffered defeat in an Armageddon tie-breaker to China’s Wei Yi. However, Arjun Erigaisi managed to beat America’s Hikaru Nakamura at the Norway Chess tournament here.
After a see-sawing Classical match that ended in a stalemate, Gukesh succumbed to his opponent in the 15-minute tie-breaker. The Indian now sits in tied-fifth place with 4.5 points.
Meanwhile, Erigaisi triumphed via the Armageddon tie-breaker as Nakamura squandered a winning position with just three minutes remaining. Erigaisi sits in fourth place with 6 points.
