Olympic gymnastics great Mary Lou Retton out of hospital

Olympic gymnastics icon Mary Lou Retton has been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home after battling a rare form of pneumonia, her daughter said on Monday.


Retton’s daughter McKenna Kelley revealed on October 10 that her mother was “fighting for her life” in intensive care at an undisclosed hospital as she battled the illness.

However Kelley said in an Instagram post on Monday that the 1984 Olympic gold medallist was now back at home.

“Mom is home & in recovery mode. We still have a long road of recovery ahead of us, but baby steps,” Kelley wrote.
