<p>Home favourite <a href="https://mid-day.com/web-stories/carlos-alcaraz-withdraws-from-madrid-open-5567" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"><strong>Carlos Alcaraz</strong></a> withdrew from the Madrid Open on Thursday due to a thigh injury.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Spaniard sustained the injury during his <a href="https://mid-day.com/sports/other-sports/article/nadals-comeback-ends-in-second-round-defeat-23344826" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"><strong>Barcelona Open</strong></a> final defeat last Sunday to Holger Rune. &ldquo;I did everything that was in my hands, but it [the injury] didn&rsquo;t improve a lot over the [last few] days. If I play, I will be messed up for longer than expected&rdquo; Alcaraz said.&nbsp;</p>
<p>However, he was optimistic over featuring in the French Open next month. &ldquo;I think I will definitely be at Roland Garros,&rdquo; said Alcaraz, who is also dealing with a niggle in his left hamstring.</p>
