Portuguese footballer and Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo created history after he overtook Ali Daei to become the leading goalscorer in football history during a game against Ireland in September 2021. Ronaldo went past Ali's 109 goals as he scored a brace for Portugal. Ronaldo now sits with 115 goals from 182 caps.

Popular Argentine striker Lionel Messi won the 2021 Ballon d'Or, adding the seventh golden ball to his account, which is the most in history. The 34-year-old, who is also the star player of the Paris St. Germain football club, has won Ballon d'Or in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2019 and 2021.
Harshal Patel equals Dwayne Bravo in IPL
Indian spinner and Royal Challengers Bangalore cricketer Harshal Patel was undoubtedly one of the stars of IPL 14. The RCB spinner took an astonishing 32 wickets from 15 games to equal Dwayne Bravo's record for most wickets in an IPL season. However, Harshal achieved this feat in 15 games while Bravo did so in 18 matches.

Old is gold when it comes to Leonardo Bonucci
Italian centre-back Leonardo Bonucci became the oldest goal-scorer in the history of the Euro finals. He achieved the feat in the Euro 2020 finals between England and Italy at the Wembley Stadium. By scoring in the 67th minute of the game, Italy got the equaliser and Bonucci became the oldest goal-scorer (34 days and 71 days). Bonucci also has the most appearances for Italy in Euro finals history (18).
Shreyas Iyer's historic test debut
During the first Test against New Zealand in November, Shreyas Iyer delivered one of the most memorable Test debuts in recent times as he scored 105 and 65 runs during the Kanpur Test. In the process, Iyer not only became the 16 Indian cricketer to hit a hundred on Test debut, but the first-ever to score a hundred and a fifty in the first two innings of his Test debut.
R Ashwin's race to 300
India's veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin became the third Indian spinner after Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh to reach 300 wickets in Tests during the second Test vs New Zealand. Ashwin also became only the second bowler after Anil Kumble to take 300 wickets at home and the second fastest after Muralitharan to take 300 Test scalps at home.
