Embark on a nostalgic journey as you listen to Michael Jackson's greatest hits performed by pune's leading rock bands Rocky's Revelation
King of Pop Michael Jackson's tragic death on June 25 marked the end of a legend who inspired people across the world. Pune's music lovers have joined hands to organise MJ A Tribute to The King of Pop to honour his legacy.u00a0
The event will feature bands such as Rocky's Revelation and Live Wire perform famous Jackson singles, followed by a screening of his live concerts and a candle light mass where people will pray for his soul. The event will conclude with everyone joining in the singing of "We are The World".
The GUIDE caught up with Rocky Tribhuwan from Rocky's Revelation and Jason Filipe from Live Wire and quizzed them about how Jackson influenced their music. While Rocky's Revelation is a two-member band that mostly plays covers, Live Wire is a classic rock band.
How do you perceive MJ as a musician?
Rocky: Michael Jackson was the greatest entertainer ever and his appeal was in his larger-than-life persona and stylish showmanship. Our performance will attempt to recreate the magic and honour his versatile personality.
Which of his numbers will you play tonight?
Rocky: We will be playing numbers such as Liberian Girl from Jackson's 1987 album Bad alongwith songs such as Billie Jean and Thriller. We intend to make the audience groove to the music, which is not a tough task as Jackson's music compels people to sing along.
How do you feel about playing numbers by Michael Jackson?
Jason: All the members of Live Wire are out-and-out MJ fanatics. Fellow band members Vibhash, Troy, Phillipe and Rayan are all thrilled to perform for tonight's gig. MJ's songs have always been a musician's delight and never lose their magnetic appeal or grace.
What is the influence that Jackson's music had on you?
Jason: I have been listening to his tracks ever since I was a child. I don't think that he will ever be forgotten. After all, no one has stopped crooning Elvis' songs, though he passed away several decades ago.
Tonight, we will be playing songs like Beat It, The Way You Make Me Feel, Black or White and Billie Jean.
