At best, it's had a mixed reception in India, but Slumdog Millionaire, the winner of eight Oscar awards, continues to wow Western audiences.

Last week the Danny Boyle film entered its 19th week to become one of the biggest money-spinners on Australian screens.

At the same time, A R Rahman's euphonious composition Jai Ho became the nation's leading single ahead of Taylor Swift's Love Story, Fio Rida's Right Round, 3oh!3's Don't Trust Me, Beyonce's Halo and Eminem's We Made You.

Jai Ho was also the most popular downloaded number last week.

Meanwhile the salivating media here cannot have enough of the juicy shenanigans concerning the parents of winsome child star Rubina Ali Qureshi.
