Leading Gynaecologists and Obstetrician Dr. Dhruba Roy is currently serving as Senior Consultant at Fortis Hospital.

She started her career as S.H.O in NRS Medical College in 1988 and thereafter she served as a Gynaecologist in Eastern Railway Hospital. As a Gynaecologist, she has also worked at West Bengal Health Service.


Dr. Roy did her MBBS from NRS Medical College & Hospital and then she completed Diploma in Gynaecology and Obstetrics from R. G. Kar Medical College & Hospital. Later she completed her MD from Assam Medical College. She has also received training in Infertility from IRM at Kolkata as well as training in Laparoscopy & Hysteroscopy from Spectrum Clinic.


An avid writer Dr. Roy has written many articles on health issues in various journals, magazines and newspapers. It is through timely intervention, Dr. Roy has saved a number of newborn babies. Still a humble doctor she says, “My greatest achievement as a doctor must be the number of lives that I have saved by performing the critical surgery while attending on patients in emergency.” 


Asking about the key milestones achieved by her in life, she says, “Knowledge, clinical skills, and judgement added with integrity and commitment are the assets of medical profession. In my 30 years long medical career, I could save thousands of lives and could give smile to so many families. Moreover, I have earned respect from all strata of the society and that is the biggest success in my life.”

Dr. Roy is the life member of various academic bodies like IMA, Federation of Obstetrician & Gynaecologist of India, Endometriosis Society of India and Society of Gynaecological Endoscopists of India.  She regularly participates in national conferences and also presents papers in them. A kind hearted Dr. Roy attends free medical camps and blood donation camps on a regular basis. She also contributes to public causes by doing awareness programmes on various media platforms like TV and Radio.
