Due to the current COVID situation around the world, many big movies of the South and Hindi industry have been either delayed or cancelled for unknown time, and this has paved way for low budget and content-driven movies. A greater opportunity has arisen for small conceptual films, including this hindi film ‘Phas Gaye Yaaro’ produced by Rupesh Gohil & Dhananjay Masoom.

Film is released & distributed by Rajshri Productions in Hyderabad and some parts of Maharashtra and has been running successfully in theatres.

STORY: Hollywood producer Martin Spielberg is looking for a special man to play a lead character in a horror movie and finalizes Underworld Don Salim Bhai as the lead.

Salimbhai (Mast Ali aka Salim Pheku) along with his associate Ajjubhai (Aziz Naser) reach the same haunted resort where every night a male film crew member is taken away by the witch and the next morning their underwear comes in a parcel box.

Will they escape or unfold the mystery?

Review : Horror-comedy has surely caught the fancy of filmmaker Rupesh Gohil in recent times and debutante Director Yusuf Surti tries to blend the two genres in Phas Gaye Yaaro and succeeds to a large degree.

In the film, the two actors at the centre of the plot – Mast Ali, and Aziz Naser – are in great form after a long time and complement each other’s performances. Mast Ali shines with his great comic timing and pitch-perfect expressions. The actor pulls off comic parts with a certain ease, and here again, he flaunts his flair for comedy like his previous blockbuster hits Angrez and Hyderabad Nawabs.

The film, written by Yusuf Surti, is replete with well-written one-liners, which land smoothly on most occasions and has its share of laughs.

At over two hours, the film could definitely do with a tighter edit. Apart from all the entertainment, the film tries to give a deeper message on current pandemic situation, which works to a certain degree, but the ending seems a tad bit convenient, haphazard and lacks the punch that one is fed right from the start. As for the music, the one main title track – 'lockdown' song is the highlight of the soundtrack. With laughs and scares, Phas gaye Yaaro delivers an important message in the climax.

Despite all its flaws and ambiguous ideas, this low budget film Phas Gaye Yaaro is entertaining remains true to its genre and packs a good dose of entertainment.
