Actor Aditi Rao Hydari, who plays the role of Bibbojaan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar' not only impressed the audience with her acting prowess but also her ‘Gaja Gamini’ that has gone viral. Aditi is seen walking gracefully in the song ‘Saiyaan Hatto Jaao’ where she performs mujra for Fardeen Khan. The sequence shows her nailing the most intricate choreography all while wearing a gorgeous outfit.

Designers Rimple and Harpreet took to their Instagram account and explained how the ensemble was created. They wrote, “For her graceful and coy dance performance, Bibbojaan donned a lush red ghaghra crafted from a vintage suchi zari Kim-Khwab brocade textile, which is layered with a wide floral and avian motif border rendered using handcrafted marodi ka kaam and zardozi. It was paired with deep umber brown makhmal choli (blouse) which featured intricate floral (gleaned from a 19th century British gilet) zardozi embroidery that was crafted using dabka, naqshi, pearls, opals and other semi-precious stones.”

“The ensemble was completed with an earthy mustard-gold organza and jaali patchwork dupatta which featured a Mughal-esque dabbi jaal and special metal sequins that were delicately cut by hand into stars and the crescent moon; and a handcrafted crotchet and pearl parandi,” added the duo.

Earlier, Aditi mentioned how Bhansali was involved in every minute detail including the costume design process. She said that he handpicked a fabric for her first mujra in the series. "During my first mujra performance, Sanjay sir went to New Delhi to Rimple and Harpreet's facility and found a brocade piece. It was a shade of red you don't get today. We started the shoot of 'Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar' with that mujra."

"It was really like his blessing because I know he handpicked it for me. Whether it's the writing, whether it's Sanjay Sir's care, his love, these characters, or beautiful costumes - it all makes me truly grateful that we got to be a part of this beauty every day," she added, according to a statement.

Through the stories of courtesans and their patrons, the series delves deep into the cultural reality of Heeramandi. The series features Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Taha Shah Badussha, Shekhar Suman, and Adhyayan Suman. 'Heeramandi' is streaming on Netflix.
